Immediate Volunteer Needs:

Kids Closet Volunteer
If you like working in a clothing store setting, like the idea of helping to sort and choose the nicest donated items to be given to children and teens, and would enjoy interacting with client families, this might be the volunteer activity for you. Huelp us maintain our lovely clothing distribution center, the Kids Closet.

Mobile Meals Driver
(Food delivery to seniors and the homebound)
Requirements:
Must make a weekly 1 hour commitment
Age 18 and over
Your own car with insurance
Days and hours: M, T, TH, F: 4pm-6pm

Receptionist
Requirements:
Answer phones at the Samaritan House Administrative Offices
Days and hours: M,T,W,TH, F: 8:30am-5:30pm (select a day and time that works for you).

Samaritan House Courier
Requirements:
Age 18 and over
Your own car with current insurance
Days and hours: One morning a week; M,T, or F

Do you like to prepare food? If so, the Samaritan House Kitchen might be the assignment for you! Our Kitchen is a great place for individual volunteers and small volunteer groups.

If you like to organize, stock, and distribute food, we can use your help in the Samaritan House Food Pantry.

Driving
Are you licensed to drive in California? We need drivers to pick up food donations and to deliver meals to the homebound.

Courier Pick Up and Delivery
Do you like to drive? Drop by and visit? The volunteer job of courier might be right for you! Because Samaritan House has several program locations and the need to frequently and quickly exchange documents among staff at our sites, the most efficient method is to have a driver do pick-up and delivery.

Clerical, reception, or office administration
We need volunteers who are good at data entry, greeting clients, answering the phone, word processing, filing, and/or general office duties.

Teaching English as a Second Language
We need bi-lingual people to teach English to non-English speakers.

Teaching Spanish literacy
We need volunteers to teach the basics of reading and writing Spanish to native Spanish-speakers.

Assisting with our special fundraising event
For our annual fundraising event, we need the assistance of many volunteers. You might like to assist with planning, theme, decorations, ticket sales, auction donations, poster distribution, mailings, and more.

During November and December Samaritan House needs many volunteer to help distribute food and toys.

Junior volunteers
Volunteers under 18 years of age are welcome! Volunteers under 14 years of age must be directly supervised by a parent or guardian. Volunteers ages 14 through 17 must have one parent or guardian for every three volunteers.
