Administration Volunteer
Perform various clerical duties, answer the telephone, perform data entry, assist with mailings, and special projects, as needed.
Requirements: Must be able to sit at a desk for periods of time; speak and understand English. Computer skills very helpful!
Commitment: 1 or more shifts per week
(9 a.m.-1 pm or 1-5 p.m.)

Clinic Translator
Accompany patients to exam room; act as translator between medical professionals and patients.
Requirements: Must be fluent in Spanish and English; respectful and welcoming of clients; protective of client’s privacy

Client Services Reception Volunteer
Answer phones, greet visitors, and assist staff with data entry and other clerical duties.
Requirements: 18+ years of age; responsible, respectful and welcoming of clients; protective of clients’ privacy; ability to sit for periods of time; basic word-processing and data-entry skills; able to understand/speak English (Spanish language skills an asset)
Commitment: 1 shift/wk (am or pm); 3 months

Clinic Clerical Volunteer

Redwood City Clinic Library Volunteer
Acquire, sort and stock health-related documents for distribution to patients; internet research for new materials and resources and special projects, as needed. Assist clients in finding needed materials.
Requirements: Must be able to speak and read English; Spanish helpful
Commitment: 2 to 4 shifts per month; 6 months

Development Volunteer
Assist with mailing of invitations, solicitation and acknowledgement letters; some data entry, phone work.

Dining Room Volunteer
Set up and serve food to clients; package meals to be delivered; clean up.

Commitment: 2 shifts per month; 6 months

Bread Basket Volunteer
Drive to various stores/vendors to pick up food donations; deliver donations to Kitchen/Food Pantry for distribution.
Requirements: Must be 18 years old; licensed, insured driver; sign a liability waiver form; drive own vehicle
Commitment: 1 morning pick-up shift per week; 6 months

Mobile Meals Volunteer
Pick up prepared meals at Kitchen and deliver to list of designated individuals.
Requirements: Must be 18 years old; sign a liability waiver form; be licensed, insured driver; drive own vehicle

Safe Harbor Dinner Service Volunteer
Set up and serve dinner to shelter residents; clean up after dinner.

Requirements: Must be over 18 years of age; Responsible, respectful and welcoming to clients; Protective of residents' privacy; Ability to sit for periods of time; Understand/speak English; Basic word processing and data- entry skills.
Commitment: 1 shift/week – am or pm

Kids Closet Shop Volunteer
Greet Client shoppers; collect vouchers and assist clients with shopping; maintain record of each voucher and the number of items acquired; bag items for client; maintain order of work area and clothing on racks; restock clothing as needed.
Requirements: Must be able to stand and move for period of 2-3 hours; must be at least 18 years old
Commitment: 2 to 4 shifts per mo.; 6 months

Kids Closet Scheduling Volunteer
Contact Kids Closet volunteers by email and telephone to fill shifts in the stock room and shop; post schedule, maintain changes; and update Director of Volunteers and Lead Volunteers.
Requirements: Must be able to use email and online calendar for scheduling
Commitment: 3-5 hours per week; 6 months
Location: Can work from home
Supervisor: The Lead Volunteer
Holiday Program Volunteer
Assist with the scheduling of holiday volunteers; collect, sort and distribute toy and food donations; deliver to homebound individuals and families; prepare and serve Thanksgiving meal; decorate holiday cards & grocery bags (children).
Requirements: Age and ability vary by task
Commitment: All Holiday Program activities take place mid-October thru December

Pick up / drop off documents and supplies between Samaritan House’s various program locations – Safe Harbor Shelter in South San Francisco; Administrative Office, Client Services Office, Kitchen / Food Pantry, Kids Closet, San Mateo Clinic in San Mateo; and Redwood City Clinic. A convenient number and combination of sites can be arranged.
Requirements: Age 18 and over. Your own car with current insurance
Commitment: One morning per week;
